This would include vaseline.
Vaseline on rubber door seals.
For preventative measures some manufacturers recommend applying silicone spray around the rubber door and trunk seals to prevent this problem.
And then close the door and be amazed.
Ok something i ve noticed when it s freezing cold in the morning the rubber door seals seem to freeze to the metal door frame i assume moisture gets trapped and freezes.
I tried a spray of wd40 wiped round on a cloth but doesn t seem to have helped.
But it has been close to four months since i tried the experiment and the freezer is still frost free.
Apply a thin layer to the rubber gaskets around your car doors.
The vaseline won t repair damage such as cracks or tears.
Seal it up vaseline or petroleum jelly can soften a dried gasket so that it will form a good seal around the door of your refrigerator.
Seriously i doubted this would work.
Simply rub the vaseline over the rubber gasket where it seals to the fridge or freezer.
While vaseline and other petroleum products may degrade real rubber actually made from the rubber tree current o rings technology does not use natural rubber.
This will help prevent doors from freezing shut and help prolong the life of expensive door seals.
